Tomorrow is the start of Beach Volleyball Championship weekend in Gulf Shores and the #1 seed Women of Troy will be facing #8 seed sakerlina. We beat them 5-0 earlier this season. I forecast a win in the first round.

ucla and pepperdine round out the 3 West selections, with LSWho and the seminoles completing the 3 teams from the East. Hawaii and Long Beach St are the 2 at-large selections.

You can follow updates on their twitter...

It will be the last collegiate opportunity to watch the amazing and record-setting duo of Claes and Hughes. They have done USC proud. Fight On Women of Troy!

Check out the custom Chuck Taylor high-tops.

IMO, no. We have beat them 3 times this year, the most recent, 4-1, about a month ago at the Gamecock Grand Slam. The 3 West teams are really the 3 best teams. Of course anything can happen but odds should have us in the finals against ucla and they are the only team to beat us this season.

I expect ucla to get past LSWho and for Pepperdine to get past LBState. Pepperdine would be the match where ucla could lose. The Waves coach Nina Matthies is outstanding and they are better this year than last. I think they will be prepared to battle. On our side of the bracket, Hawaii and fsu should be a great match. They played once this season and Hawaii came away with the win. If Hawaii comes out the winner, they have to be feeling intimidated. We have played each other 5 times this season and they are 0-fer.

As expected, the Trojans take out the lady Gamecocks 4-0 and advance to the next round. Next up Hawaii and Florida State to determine who will battle USC.

Hawaii it is. I'm thinking USC moves on once again. Match time is listed as both 3 in Central and East so not sure which one it will be but they are covering the whole tournament. Yogi Roth is doing the sideline commentary, lol.

NCAA streaming is a pain in the ass. Television viewing is on Tru-TV. For ATT Uverse customers in SoCal, it's channel its 165 (not hi-def).

USC v. Hawaii just about to tip off on Tru TV.

Is it called ''tip off'' in volleyball?

The Women of Troy quickly took care of the Waves today and move on to the final tomorrow. After Florida St sent the bruins back to westwood, they are now battling Hawaii to see who will play Pepperdine in the contender's bracket. The winner of that match will go on to face USC.

An outstanding tournament for USC this year. With so many seniors it will be tough to dominate again next year so they really want to finish strong.

Crazy finish with the Rainbow Wahine eliminating FSU in the final match. The match score was tied 2-2 and the last match came down to the 3rd game and a 27-25 win. Hawaii will face Pepperdine tomorrow for the right to play USC again.

We are in the best possible spot right now. No second match today or tomorrow and momentum is very high. The last Hawaii pairs mentioned just now how tired they were and whomever wins will have to play 2, regardless.

I predict a USC vs Hawaii final.

'SC won 3-0 the first time but it was really close.

It's going to be a close match. On the season, Pepperdine holds a 2-1 edge. In their favor is the fact that they only played one match today while Hawaii had to play twice. Hawaii's matches against FSU all went 3 games so I know they are tired. Pepperdine will have fresh legs and prior to this morning's match against USC, they hadn't lost. They handled ucla 3-1 although I get the feeling that ucla spent themselves in the Pac12 tournament.

So, you are left with Hawaii's grit and Pepperdine's momentum and confidence. Should be fun to watch.

Oh, and you are right, that first match against us was much closer than the final score indicates. I happen to think that at some point here, the constant physical requirements, the elements, and the emotional highs and lows will take their toll. USC is still having fun.....the pitfall is to go in to the match without respecting your opponent. I don't see Coach Collier allowing that to happen.

    Play USC Volleyball Ladies!

    I don't know.....I might get flagged.

Great win....almost the same exact ending as the pac 12 final against the bruins. Came down to the last match, tied at 2 sets a piece, last game 15-13. Just, wow. USC with 5 seniors and Pepperdine with almost all sophomores. If they don't take it next year, I'll be shocked.
