Who's to say due process was denied? Due process would also entail that not every single detail of the two sides of the issue were aired in public before the decision...

Knowing no specifics of Bubba's situation but knowing some things about the University disciplinary process (not from personal experience thankfully), the "two years" thing sounds like it wasn't a 2-year suspension from football only, but a 2-year suspension from school, which was - according to due process - itself stayed upon his appeal until the issue was decided officially. Which would be why he was still enrolled but ineligible to participate in non-academic activities. And the two years wasn't pulled out of thin air, but was the timing until the person(s) with whom he had the disagreement that resulted in disciplinary action would be expected to have graduated...

The young man likely had a lawyer advising him of his rights in the room - if not representing him directly - during disciplinary proceedings.

There were players involved in the incedent and from what I’ve heard one in particular who is lucky he wasn’t caught up in it too. Difference is, he listened about not going back and Bubba didn’t.

I’m firmly convinced if Bubba didn’t go back and escelate the situation, he’s still on the team

If Helton did get involved and give Bubba the ultimatum, then Bubba deserves to go. By the very nature that Bubba needed 12 violations for this matter to reach this point, means Bubba had to go. If other players were initially involved, but had the wherewithal to stay away...and Bubba didn't, then Bubba has to go.

There may be disagreements on due process and whether this matter should have been escalated to a higher forum when it reached this type of expulsion, but under any scenario - Bubba's got to go.

At this point, I hope to gawd Helton was not involved in those 12 violations and chalk it up to his disconnected obliviousness. If he was involved, that means he must have known after the 5th violation, after the 7th, 9th and 11th.

Have you ever seen those parents that threaten their children after bad behavior and make the same the threat over and over without ever following through? I've tolerated those kids, no one wants to be within a million miles of those kids...regardless of their potential talent. And as a parent, there's 0% effectiveness after the 2nd threat is made without consequences...
