BLM Protesters Sue Seattle, Claim That Expensive Gear To Protect Them From Cops Prices Them Out Of Civil Rights
POSTED BY: DINO PORRAZZO AUGUST 4, 2020

In a move that is so weird you might not believe it is true, a group of protesters in Seattle is suing claiming that the police response to their “protests” is forcing them to buy expensive protective gear, which is pricing them out of the ability to exercise their rights.

A lawsuit was filed Monday in a federal court in Seattle that claims protesters in the city are essentially being priced out of protesting for civil rights because the protective gear they need to keep them safe from responding police is expensive, a report on Tuesday said.

The Seattle Times reported that the five plaintiffs listed some of the items needed for protection from police munitions during these protests. The list included boots, gloves, helmets and gas masks.

The lawsuit claims, according to the report, that protesters who take part in these rallies have to face the possibility of an aggressive police response and “must purchase expensive equipment to be assured that they will be able to protest safely, the indiscriminate use of weapons by SPD implicates equal protection.”

That is so insane it is almost beyond belief. The lawyer who filed this ridiculous case should be disbarred immediately.

Meanwhile Seattle is moving forward with defunding their local police department:

Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best is urging elected leaders to “stand up for what is right” after a group of protesters appeared outside her home over the weekend as pressures continue to mount over the enactment of police reform measures.

In a Monday letter to the nine-member City Council, Best said her home in Snohomish County was targeted Sunday night by “aggressive” protesters, prompting concerns from her neighbors. The crowd wasn’t able to trespass or engage in illegal behavior, Best said, despite their attempts to do so.

“These direct actions against elected officials, and especially civil servants like myself, are out of line with and go against every democratic principle that guides our nation,” she wrote. “Before this devolves into the new way of doing business by mob rule here in Seattle, and across the nation, elected officials like you must forcefully call for the end of these tactics.”

Protesters have held rallies outside the homes of several city leaders — including Mayor Jenny Durkan — in recent weeks in an effort to spearhead the slashing of the Seattle Police Department budget by half. In addition to the gatherings, some council members have seen offensive messages written outside their residences.

The council is in discussions to cut the police budget, with several proposals being considered. One measure would result in the laying off of as many as 100 police officers.

Great moments in the people’s republic of Seattle, or Seattlestan.

They wouldn't need any equipment for protection if they protested peacefully.

Case dismissed. Go home to mommy snowflakes.
