Of course they have to take the dig at us losing to them in ‘06. They live in the past, and yearn for better days, much like us. Don’t think cutty makes it. His record will be no better than Herman’s. Guy was run out of Atlanta not that long ago. Strange move by the short horns IMHO. However, at least AD Del Conte had the cajones to pull the trigger on a coach that wasn’t his guy. What a stark contrast to Bohn(er).

Lots of empathy/sensitivity because of Covid and people losing their jobs. Fight On! Rodgarnay51 likes this.

The issue we have is the boosters aren't as excited about throwing money at programs as they are elsewhere. Plus we don't have that type of pressure. If you look at the three schools who paid buyouts. Texas, Auburn and S Carolina. They are have an instate rival who finished in the Top 5. If you combine a different mindset towards football and losing ground to rivals you see why they are paying 15+ million for buyouts. One thing is for sure it isn't coming from the universities. Boosters as of right now have more power than they ever had because of athletic budget shortfalls. Regarding Sark... Who cares? Truth of the matter. Sark did help us go to two consecutive NYD6 bowls. You see it by how the program went over a cliff when Darnold and others left. A lot of those players who played in the Rose Bowl and Cotton Bowl were his guys. Troy70 likes this.

Can you see why the optics look bad? Fight On! Rodgarnay51 likes this.

In fact, he had a #1-rated recruiting class in ‘15 I believe. However, he has always been “7-win sark” as a coach. He reminds me of Jason Garrett. Just don’t see players getting behind him and sacrificing themselves for their coach on the field of battle, the way King CPC was able to motivate players. Just my 2 cents. Rodgarnay51 likes this.

Sad thing is we had to fire Sark but that doesn't mean that he didn't help us out. If I had the choice I would have rather had him coaching those teams in 2016 and 2017.

He has not been a head coach for over 5 years and has been working under Saban and had some NFL experience as well. The Falcons were a disaster when he left them, not his fault. He was pretty experienced his first go around with UW and us. He will be as good as he is going to get with Texas and time will tell. But let's leave the reference to his wins at UW in the past.

We wanted Sark to have success but because of his drinking he couldn't continue Hindsight is always 20/20 but it looks like Sark did do a decent job here and is responsible for our two best years in the last 10. 2016 and 2017.

The 21 months of Sark being here set us up for the Rose and Cotton Bowl. This is the reason why Helton hasn't been able to follow up that success. Guy has been a .500 coach without those two years We had to fire Sark. I wish things could have been different because the guy can flatout coach. Has 7 QBs drafted in the Top 10 to his resume. Everywhere he has been he has been successful.

If we scream at the top of our lungs Sark can't coach and he goes on to winning 10+ games a year we will look bitter. The talent he is inheriting will have him there. Should have been ar USC but we wanted Pete Carroll. None of his assistants would have lived up to it.
