We need to focus on each game as if the other team will bring their best and we need to bring ours. All teams in D1 have good to great athletes and on any given Saturday, any team can beat us if we aren't prepared and ready.

I think you basically have to throw their San Jose St. win out, similar to Stanford against Rice.

If you look at the Maryland game, I don't see a team with a strong run game, or a strong D line. Basically they were ran on at will, and could not run themselves. They truly laid in egg, even on ST, and it only ended up somewhat close because Maryland had the game in hand early.

Now, I don't expect them to go easily. They do have some big bodies. And Herman had two very good years at Houston. But with only two years as HC, he's still "learning on the job" as some like to say about Clay.

I think they can score somewhere in the 20s on us. But if we continue to run the ball so explosively, and if Sam stays aggressive, which he will, we can post 30 to 40 on them.

He's wrong. It will be the woodchipper, not dismemberment.
Seriously though, I'm expecting Texas to put up a better fight than most. Herman has a history of doing well as the underdog.

Maryland was much more physical than Texas in that game. It was interesting to watch. I will say that people shouldn't underestimate how good Ty Johnson for Maryland really is. The kid averaged 9.1 yards per carry last year and rushed for over a thousand yards. That was with no real passing game either. I think USC should win, and win fairly handily, as long as they play solid D.

Payback? Lets see, National Championship-Rose Bowl-3 Peat on the line 12 years ago to a regular season game versus a struggling UT program with new coach. Hmmmm. Yeah, that seems comparable.

Sorry....no way in any universe is a W this week "payback"

FWIW...that was a forward lateral. Play should have been called dead at that spot, as I recall. Yet another Ref mistake.

Look how we played in our first game. If the opponent had been Maryland instead of WMU I wonder what the outcome may have been?
Looking at both teams, I am pretty confident Maryland is better than WMU.

At the end of the 3rd quarter it was a 3 point game. 37 to 34. The game was most definitely in doubt heading into the 4th quarter.

The difference?: 3 non-offensive TD's. Pick 6, blocked punt for a TD and a punt return for a TD.

If they play again Texas will win the game. They are not going to give up 3 non-offensive TD's again.

    Should we win? Yes.
    Could we lose? Yes.

The refs in that game were the worst of any game I can remember. Even the video review was crap and conveniently was not working at one point.
The whole game was a complete shit show and USC should have won by 30.

While I think that Kiffin screwed the pooch with his play calling that evening, on the play you referenced, I believe it actually was a screen pass to RB in the left flat.

I loved Herman's Armageddon Movie quote when asking his Defensive coordinator about his review of the SC game film. "just say it...so the scariest environment imaginable, that's all you had to say, the scariest environment imaginable".

Trojans should focus on their own game and standard of play and if they do those things they should have a comfortable win. Play physical and let Horns know they are in for a long day and I believe USC's talent level will be the difference.

Let a guy like Herman have a team that is competitive and still in the fight in the second half then USC would be looking for trouble.

Aside from a few players they really aren't that talented.

Nope. We play them in Austin next year. Treat them with class. Harbaugh is not coaching them. They've done nothing wrong. Their fans were classy at the Rose Bowl, and more came from Texas to watch their team than did our locals.

Beat them soundly. But save the hate for Stanford, ucla and the domers.

I think he means severe payback in terms of we're going to smash them into the mud on Saturday. It obviously wont change anything about 2006.

It took me all of one or two viewings of the 4th and 5 to get me pissed off and fired up yet again. As much as I've tried to view this Saturday as just another game, it will be anything but for at least most of us (including me). Yes, it was 12 years ago and very much has changed during this time. Yet the sting still lingers to some degree and winning this Saturday - convincingly, hopefully - will help exact a little bit of revenge (beating a Kevin Durant-led Longhorn hoop team in the tournament in '07 just didn't quite cut it).

My perspective is i think cpc should have made young beat them with the pass. It seems that the corners were playing 5 - 10 yards off , ala kiffin and the cover 2. Whenever young made a big play it was running the ball. Last play as an example.
