Amon-Ra St. Brown posted this to Instagram: "Obviously this wasn’t the outcome we wanted for the year. This is USC, and we should be expected to compete for national championships every single year. Even though we fell short, I wanted to thank you all for your support. I’m incredibly grateful to be a Trojan, and thankful for all the opportunities I’ve been given. USC is a special place, and the Trojan family is a huge reason why. There is a lot we need to do for us to get where we want to be. That work starts right now. Not only will I do everything I can to restore us to being national championship contenders, I will step up as a leader and help my teammates put in the effort as well. It’s my responsibility now as an upperclassman to help lead the way and set the tone. I look forward to that challenge. We will come back bigger, stronger, and better next season. Just you watch. Fight On!"

    Sincerely,
    Amon-Ra

I thought before the season that St. Brown and Talanoa Hufanga could be dark horse candidates for captain this year even though they were just sophomores. Going to see how much of a leadership role both take on this offseason.

I love his outlook. Would be nice to see Helton with that kind of concern....for a change.

So true! It's sad that the players are able to do an honest self-honest and explain specific steps they'll do to improve while Helton uses cliche platitudes.

Players need to demand a change of leadership. Especially the ones not worried about their positions.

Great Trojan and Clay should be ashamed that he has to be led on how things should be done.
These great talents come here only wither unless they take matters into their own hands.

can players schedule practices? We need players to organize and schedule live tackle practices when Claydough doesn’t. Hope we see that kind of leadership from our players and future DC. “Hey Coach Helton, the week that you gave us off, we’re gonna get 5 practice sessions in, enjoy your time with your family, while we prep for a game.”

They can have player led practices. I'm not sure on any limitations to those.

I applaud ARSB for being a man and taking on a leadership role. As for the players demanding Helton be fired...I don't see that happening since everything we have heard is that like 90% of the players love the man.

There are a lot of alumni who can learn from your example.

That was beautifully said, it almost brought tears to my eyes, well said Amon-Ra St. Brown. It's also a damn shame that this is coming from a player instead of the coach.

Really interesting. I heard directly from a current players dad that Amon was one of the most disappointed immediately following the players meeting where it was announced that Helton was retained. That’s why I assumed he would be heading to the portal.

Very impressed that he has since collected himself and even more so by this statement.

Love the courage to want to step up and lead...Fight On ARSB!

Lord knows the person in the Head Coach position isn't doing anything about it. Need more players to step up and demand change as well.

He deserves better. He should be an All-American next year with Slovis at quarterback. However, with our high school, Air-Raid offense I wouldn't be at all surprised if we lose Slovis (again) in the first quarter against Alabama.

If Helton is smart he might be advised to start the walk on QB and work his way up from there against Bama. Then we'd have a healthy Slovis for the rest of the season. Do a reverse blowout strategy. Start with your backups and as they get hurt, work in your starters. smh.

Best idea to keep Kedon in one piece & healthy for rest of season.

I for one am not surprised with this coming from ASB. This kid has always worked his tail off & is a very articulate young man. Also comes from a great Family, a Family who values academics as well as hard work. Very good morals & a ton of god given natural talent. Fight on!!!!!
