I heard this a few weeks ago. This isn’t good, as they are building a nice theater at our local mall, a mall which has been closed for months due to COVID-19 lockdown. Many of the stores in the mall are going out of business, and they need the AMC in their recovery. The mall itself may go ghost town.

A concern for that "industry" involved in shopping centers, and for all those associated with that line of business.

A guy in Inglewood is worried that he's not spending $5 billion to build one.

and what about the local art movie houses?
I am hoping the local Tower Theater here is able to continue... haven't heard anything as yet but it has been shuttered since early March

During the faux shutdown, I decided what things I could easily live without. Movie theaters is right at the top of the list. Some movies I prefer to see in a theater but it's not crucial and I feel like Hollywood's best days are in the rearview. With so many platforms to choose from, one can stream a favorite any time.

Meh, I don't miss the gummy floors and ignit people acting a foo' at movie theaters. My home theater gives me everything I want in a movie experience atmosphere sans the annoyances. You can bet your bottom dollar that movie premieres will be direct streaming very soon. The times are a changin'...

The properties are going to be hard to re-rem.

Not a lot of demand for space with slanted floors.

Outside of watching 300 and Casino Royale on opening night, dont have many good memories of the AMCs I've gone to. Speakers are too loud for enjoyment.

Sounds like you didn't listen to enough rock music (at high volume) in your youth! Your ears would be used to it!

Going to the movies used to be fun, just like going to a ballgame in person. However, I much prefer both entertainments from the comfort of my home.

I listened to Van Halen and was in Section 13 of the 2004 USC Cal game. Pretty sure my eardrums are beyond repair by now.

    What?!

Loudest I've ever heard the Coli was 1993 against UCLA. Utter pandemonium when Johnson hit Ken Grace for a long 3rd down completion.

Utter silence when Johnson subsequently threw a pick in the end zone. I may have popped an eardrum while smacking my hands against the sides of my head after that play.

Haven't been to a movie theater since the 70's. Think the last movie I saw was Lifeguard with Sam Elliott.
