if it had to happen, 2020 is probably the best year for a bad recruiting class (#69 in the country according to 247 Sports). We've only got 9 graduating seniors and probably around 6 other open slots, so it's a small class of around 15 rather than a full 25 or more (Can you imagine a full class of 25 3-star recruits?). We're still a pretty young team, so if we can bring in some big-time recruits in 2021 and get things back on track, we should not experience devastating consequences for a mediocre 2019 and a terrible 2020 recruiting classes.

If we fire Clay Helton and hire Urban Meyer sooner rather than later, I believe we'd have a shot at Kendall Milton and/or Robinson at RB, Juston Flowe at LB and Rick's and Philips at CB. We'd hold on to the rest of the class and probably bring in LV at WR and 1 or 2 other studs at Safety and DL.

Oddly, the 2021 Class could be a monster with the #1 overall player in the country at DE and arguably the #1 QB. That would be a nice way to start the class.

But I just can't tell you how badly I want Justin Flowe in this Class watching Houston and AE whiff on tackle after tackle. I think Flowe and a healthy Solo is just what the doctor ordered for next year.

Actually, as the class stands, the 2021 class is ranked #7 nationally and #1 in the Pac 12. Yes, it's early, but we have some talent there.

I also think the overall stars for the class will pick up and our ranking will also. Many of the current OL that are 3* will be 4* before it's all done. Adjustments are made at the end of the current season.

So you’re saying that the #2 and #3 tacklers on the team are whiffing on tackling?

Don’t be getting all butt hurt at the current ranking of the 2020 class right now. I don’t see quite as much doom and gloom as many others as to how the team will finish the season. I think the team will be 3-4 games over .500 and if they continue to progress and manage to play in and win the PAC-12 championship as well as play in the Rose Bowl, I think the signed class will look radically different than what the current makeup looks like....

That's exactly what I'm saying. Have you been watching the games? To put nicely, EA, Houston and Rector have been somewhere between awful and terrible. Who gives a shit if they get a lot of tackles if their 9 yards down the field.

You said whiffing and I’m saying that their stats say otherwise.

I urge you to rewatch our first 4 games and focus on how many tackles EA misses and "Whiffs" on by taking horrendous angles. Dude is literally tackling the air.

I'd take Justin Flowe, as a High School senior, over any linebacker we currently have on our roster.

He looked like a sure tackler, let him play....

You probably said the same thing about EA when he was in HS.

What on earth makes you believe this? Urban just isn't that good of a recruiter to turn some of these kids around. Look at where they are in their recruiting cycle. And beyond the HC, how does USC compare to their other options? What are the current rankings of the teams they are looking at/committed to? Come on!

He may not flip these kids or even be the greatest recruiter but I can guarantee if Meyers was announced as USC's new HC today recruits would be knocking the door down to get in and play at USC. The 2020 class would completely change.

I've seen EA whiff on tackles in the backfield, only to assist in tackles 4-5 yards down the field. There are whiffs and there are whiffs. Failing to wrap-up in the backfield only to hang-on to an assisted tackle down the field is still a whiff in my book.

If you want times in the game where this happened, it'll take me a bit, but I can get you that?

What I don’t understand is how Alabama is able to bring in 20+ kids every year.

Are you such a tone deaf homer that you believe a 3 time National Champion Head Coach who never had a recruiting class outside of the top 10 at Florida or Ohio State wouldn't turn some players locally to be a part of USC dominating again? What planet are you from? The adults are talking here; go back to the kids table and be seen, not heard.

What you are missing is that maybe he is whiffing at some tackles but the fact that he is 3rd in tackles tells me that the effort is still there and you have to give him credit for that.
Probably no one is more frustrated than EA but he continues to try until the play is over. He’s still young. Have faith that he’ll come around.

We're beyond "effort". Both Clay/Clancy are gonna need more than just effort. We have too much talent on this roster t to make due with just effort.

It's beyond me how Clancy can run through video on Monday and grade-out each player's execution, and be ok with all the whiffed tackles. It boggled my mind how Clancy can be ok with all the yards after contact. These LB's are making tackles 4-5 yards down the field and it's our Safety that's leading in tackles (you never want that).

Just not good enough, not for a team of this caliber.

Uncalled for brother, way rude and unnecessary. We can do better, I say that respectfully.

Tone deaf homer? Lol. Good one, Charlie Brown. I'm telling you flat out that Urban would not be able to turn some of them around. Period. At Ohio State and Florida, he had the FULL support and commitment of those administrations....an open wallet to recruit, train, hire coaching staff. USC does not currently demonstrate that level of commitment. The conference does not have a beneficial TV deal, nor the national respect to garner votes in the polls at the end of the season. Add all the other issues and USC isn't looking like a desirable location these days and Urban can't undo all that.

Seen and not heard? Phuck off. You've been a member here for just over a year.....I've been posting on every version of WeAreSC for well over a decade. I'll let YOU know when you can leave the kid's table.
    I appreciate nvargas.
