It won't matter if Jacob Eason plays the whole season.

Not saying Helton is Petersen, but with Sears in the portal and if Fink decides to go back in, we will be in the same situation. Trust in Drevno, better get it done with the Oline!

This is more evidence that Petersen is a dick. I hope karma is a biotch to him.

This is what’s puzzling, we knew one of the 2 - Fink or Sears, would bail - and Slovis had no expectations and would stay as a true frosh. Staffs playing a dangerous game by promoting Slovis, but they must know the risks of the other 2 transferring and are ok with it. Question, does Fink have another year of eligibility to transfer after this season?

“We wanted to get the paperwork started to ask for a waiver,” said Colson’s dad, Trevor. “There are NCAA, Pac-12 and university rules that say you have to sit out a year if you transfer within the conference.

“But the real decision lies with the school, so we asked UW about getting that waiver so Colson could play this year. They told us that once Colson had formally enrolled at UCLA or elsewhere, that school would send the waiver application, and it would be handled that way.“

So it’s up to the University if the player is granted a waiver or not? I thought it was up to the NCAA,

    Here is a scenario;
    1) SC beats Fresno St. because they should, even though SC plays vanilla hold cards close football.
    2) Stanford shows too many cards to get past Northwestern. SC takes them at the Coli.
    3) BYU shows all their cards against Utah. SC goes in and gets past them.
    4) Utah's turn to be on the short end of a Friday night game at the Coli. SC wins with home field advantage and superior kicking game.
    5) Washington is in Petersen melt down, and USC takes them on the road having an extra day of practice (from Friday game and able to watch Washington live on Saturday, etc.).
    6) Bye week could not come at a better time.
    7) Notre Dame in South Bend after a bye draws odds closer. SC with all its woes last season lost by 1 TD. Pundits saying ND not as strong as last season. Can a confident SC team pull it off?
This could be the culmination of a 6-0 start with Petersen's cooperation, and etc.

I heard Eason wasn't that good during the spring. Petersen's in a pickle if this kid doesn't pan out.

    E. Washington in with a puncher's chance this weekend.

So who was the fifth Blue Chip QB on the UW pre-season roster? I count Yankoff (transfer), Sirmon (tried or considered transferring, but stayed), Eason the pre-ordained #1, and Haener (“quit the program”).

Dylan Morris signed in the 2019 class. He’s a true freshman.

What would cause him to go back in? He already tested the waters and decided he was comfortable returning to the #3 role. With Slovis ahead of him instead of Sears, he may actually feel like he is in a better position now than when he went in the first time.

He's in a MUCH better position. Slovis is #2 on a depth chart that has not yet been deployed in a game situation. I have a sneaking suspicion that if JT gets dinged up and has to come out for a few series of downs, Fink is going to get the call. And I think he knew that when he decided to take himself out of the portal.

I’m confident they will follow the depth chart and Slovis will play as the #2 QB. If not why have a depth chart then and why lose trust with the players?

They're going to put the practice squad QB in the game ahead of the #2 guy who gets 30% of the repetitions in practice?

    Mmmmmkay!

Agree. It might be better to say that Slovis would have a shorter leash though (should he not perform up to standards)

Agree, the media have posed that question and Harrell has said if JT goes down Slovis is next up.
