Yes, but with it now all the residents can live in a "safe" place, free from any hostile thoughts or beliefs.

That puts him one degree up on Robert De Niro, another of the Left's political pundits.

Trump should offer HK residents immediate asylum in the US.

This outcome was assured the day the deal for the British to leave was made.

    Fly,

Yeah, I was thinking about this today. Hong Kong Island is about 450 sq. miles. The San Juan Islands, off of Washington State, total about 650 sq. miles. There are a total of less than 7,000 residents (all of whom stand to die rich if this plan came together).

I say we offer amnesty and a free plane ticket to every Hong Kong resident. They'll have to abandon all of the Real Estate they've developed, which is a tragedy, but they can start over as free Americans. Build New Hong Kong, and become the third largest city in America - building an absolute mecca of commerce and free trade along the way.

Fun side benefit - this probably also swings Washington hard Republican for years to come...

Along the same line, I've been thinking of suggesting that we relocate Israel to the northeast corner of Nevada, northwest Utah.

    Instant peace in the mid-East.

We can rebuilt Jerusalem there.^ American expertise has built Paris, New York and the Valley of the Kings in what will be just down the road (a long one) in Vegas, so why not.

    Just a thought.

    ___________

^ The rest of the cities are pretty much the same as anywhere else.

    Acies,

If we bring Hong Kong to Western Washington, and it's only 50% Commie operatives, that's a pretty significant dilution.

I hope you can forgive my terrible error...how could anyone not miss the fact that Western Washington already is 100% dyed in the wool C.C.P. clones.

HK Island and Kowloon (the main financial and commercial areas when HK was a British colony) together is only about 50 sq. miles but about half of the population of 7.5 million lives in that area. It would be a major undertaking to ship 7.5 million over!

Sadly, most of the population will not be able to leave HK but the richer members will make it out if they want to. Some of the richest people in the world live in HK and prior to 1997, the year of the handover to PRC, many of them had been moving their money overseas. Real estate prices shot up in Vancouver, BC , in the 1990's because they came over and bought properties like there was no tomorrow; the Canadian government tried to attract capital by allowing people to immigrate if they started up businesses and create jobs. If we can give enough incentives to the richer Hong Kong population, it could help us during the recovery from the pandemic.

Many of the Hong Kong rich have close ties to Chinese officials (that's how they get rich) so they may stay even after the loss of freedom in HK but if they are allowed to come in and invest in the US, they should be closely monitored.

You can be assured that "when" is not now. In 2019, 70% of all foreign domestic investment into China flowed through Hong Kong.

China is not about to give up one penny of foreign investment from Hong Kong until it becomes the global reserve currency. China needs to stabilize its financial system and expand its futures capabilities before that happens (despite Trump's best efforts to hand control to the Chinese).

    Article is political BS.
