You don’t hear that statement at Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Ohio State. We can’t use the new QB as an excuse, the truly great programs replace great players all the time but their systems, coaching staff, and returning players manage the transition successfully. Look no further than the Pete Carroll Era, Palmer, Leinart, Booty, Sanchez, etc. we can’t use Darnold’s graduation as an excuse. I don’t have the answer, and to be honest, I can’t think of another coach I would rather have. Maybe we just need to hope that Helton and team get better, but we are not an elite program anymore and as fans we shouldn’t be okay with that and lower our standards by “managing our expectations”. Way too many talented football players on our offense to not score at least 30 points against a mediocre Furd defense. Our OC simply can't adjust - because he's not smart. Furd sitting on all of our routes - so run crossing routes, slants, quick hitches, etc. Instead, our WRs run right into coverage - and I have to believe that's on the coaching. oldtrojan93 likes this.

That offense tonight looked piss poor. Right now this team looks like they will struggle with every opponent. djgcue, Trojan Marc2 and Sark2.0 like this.

The color guy said of a struggling team, “Who’s gonna light the match?” We need to ask that same question. Who is “the guy” on this team? Who’s the guy who’s gonna step up and start making big plays who says, “Get on my back and follow me to where we need to go!” I don’t care who barks the loudest in the locker room. I care about who’s playing the loudest between the lines when the lights are on. Sack up, strap your chinstrap on and let it rip. Let’s freaking go!!

From 2017 and onward, my expectations are 3-5 losses a season, similar to 2009. Managing expectations under the current regime. It's not fun, but it's what we have right now. Sark2.0 likes this.

Its a top down, de-prioritization headed by Max and Pat and on the heels of the sanctions. Helton runs a clean program. That means no payola, no roids culture, no win at all costs, etc. This is direction the University took. For some good reasons and a whole host of bad ones. So until the NCAA cleans up the sport across the boards, or we play by the unwritten rules, this is what you get. Naturally talented players with one hand tied behind their backs. sctrojan2006 likes this.

I know it's the internet, but it baffles me how many subjects this forum fights over, that would actually spark in depth, friendly and welcomed conversation IN PERSON. SC has fans all over, but i rarely come across actual people with the knowledge most people have on this site, but when I do come across someone that can trade player, stat and coach knowledge, it usually turns into a conversation that can last a long time even when we don't have the same views on things. The internet has a way of bringing out a person's true character and some of y'all are bitter, unhappy and truly mean
