Now I’m hearing that Helton will be telling the players there will be no practice in the rain. We don’t want anyone to get the sniffles.

Not at all optimistic, but is there anything other than the single post from brooks (and, obviously, the fact that USC is expert at fucking up these types of decisions) to factually backup that CCH will be retained? Looked at objectively, the other factors (e.g. timing, dead silence from HH/UM, etc) would usually breed more optimism that a change is more likely than not.

Again, seems like all the reports out there (including on this site) keep linking to that single post/source and just trying to understand if theres a reason its been universally stamped as credible above other "insiders" that have said CCH is a goner?

And if Harrell goes what then?

Optimism is all Helton's advocates seem to have over and over...

We got a pretty good OC didn't we??? Let's look at it from a career perspective. What Harrell did this year, with a true freshman QB, and then was down 3 RB's??? He still put points on the board. The cupboard is LOADED on offense next year. Either Harrell stays, and ups his profile for a HC job, or he moves on and maybe does the same thing. We shouldn't have much trouble finding a guy who wants to work with the talent we have on O.

Now for the D. Plenty of talent as well. The secondary was young, but showed alot of good things. Room for improvement as well, of course. I would think there would be a guy either like Harrell, who wants a shot at turning around the fortunes of a Blue Blood program. , or a semi-established guy who has a vision of what his scheme can do for this team.

I am not saying Helton would have his pick of the litter. He doesn't. But you would have to be an absolute cynic, to think that there aren't a few guys who would love a chance, to put their stamp on this team for their own career sake.

Let’s not kid ourselves, Clay Helton didn’t land Graham Harrell, he was personally recommend by Kliff Kingsbury after he bolted for the Cardinals.

None of this speaks to reality, long term. Just wishful thinking and excuses.
