The USC Trojans, led by head coach Pete Carroll, are currently involved in plenty of head-to-head battles along the recruiting trail against some of the nation’s premier football programs.

In the instance of Corona (CA) Corona defensive back Demetrius Wright, the Trojans are currently involved in a battle with former Trojan offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian and the University of Washington.

Wright, who has named the Trojans and Huskies at the top of his list for some time now, has not seen any change along the recruiting fronts and as far as favorites go.

“Right now everything is the same,” said Wright of his top schools.

When the Trojans return home to the Memorial Coliseum this weekend to take on the Oregon State Beavers, plenty of top talent will be in attendance, including Wright, although the trip will be of the unofficial variety.

“I’m going to schedule that later on in the season,” said Wright of an official visit to USC.  “I was going to schedule it this Saturday but I have an ACT I have to take, so I’m going to do it the next home game.

“I’m going to take an unofficial visit to SC this Saturday.  I’m looking forward to them getting their revenge back from Oregon State.”

In the process of deciding the right school for him, Wright has resorted to a system his mother created for him to balance out the pros and cons of both the USC Trojans and Washington Huskies.

The system calls for a checklist that gives Wright a visual aid when deciding his school, making the decision that much easier for one of the state’s top defensive backs.

“My mom made me a list to check off of who’s got better what and what,” said Wright on the criteria for his decision.  “So whoever she thinks is right, and I think is right, we’ll check it off like that.  I started doing that when I went on my trips.

“I’ve always been up on SC, so when I took my official visit to Washington earlier on I did it.”

The checklist was dominated by the Trojans until Wright ventured north to take an official visit to Washington, where things leveled out a little bit, although it looks like USC still holds a lead despite not having taken an official visit to Los Angeles.

“It surprised me a little bit,” said Wright of the trip to Washington and pros versus cons on his checklist.  “SC has always been my dream school so they have a little edge.”

For Wright, the Trojans still sit atop his list of schools.

“Yeah,” answered Wright when asked if the Trojans still held a lead for his commitment.
