There isn't a hotter defensive back prospect anywhere in the West right now than Corona (Calif.) standout Demetrius Wright. Wright had a solid top two just a week ago when we talked to him at the SoCal NIKE Camp his latest offer changed things around dramatically.

Wright is a big physical corner and brings a lot to the table. He has great size at 6-1, 190 pounds with the speed to stay at corner and the physical style of play to move to safety if needed.

The athlete said Arizona and Oregon were his co-leaders a little over a week ago. A trip to USC for the Trojans Spring game Saturday changed all that.

"USC offered me at the Spring game, I couldn't believe it," Wright said. "They weren't really recruiting me that hard and then all of a sudden, they offered and I was definitely pumped up about it.

"To be honest, I gave serious thought to jumping on it and committing right there. USC is a great school and has everything I'm looking for but I decided to hold off. I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing so I'm going to take my time and weigh my options some more and still take visits."

Ironically, it wasn't too long ago when the Trojans cross town rival UCLA was in the drivers seat. In fact, Wright told us just a month ago after attending the Bruins Junior Day that he would commit on the spot if they offered a scholarship.

"I'm not looking at UCLA any more," Wright said. "I guess they decided to go in a different direction and that's fine because I have other schools I like more now as well. I'll be playing in the Pac 10 most likely and I like the West Coast a lot so I'm excited to take my visits and see how it all plays out."
