Slutak took some time to evaluate Sarkisian's offer but finalized his decision and informed Sarkisian Sunday.
Sarkisian was announced as the new head coach of the Huskies recently. He, along with Slutak, will remain on staff with the Trojans through the Rose Bowl.
"Professionally, this is a tremendous opportunity to advance my career as an athletic administrator," Slutak commented. "I'm excited to have a profound role in helping Coach Sarkisian resurrect the Huskies football program to championship heights."
Slutak joined the Trojans as a graduate assistant in 2003. He became the director of football operations in 2005.
During his time as a graduate assistant working with special teams, Slutak, a former punter for Florida State University, coached former Trojan record-setting specialists Tom Malone and Ryan Killeen, as well as the late Mario Danelo. Malone was recently signed to the practice squad of the New England Patriots. The Trojans also won two national championships during this time.
As director of football operations, Slutak has overseen all of the day to day operations of the Trojan football program, and also coordinated the Nike Southern California Coach of the Year Clinic and Trojan football camps. Slutak was also integrally involved in the football program’s activities and events that demonstrated its more humane side, including the 2007 Senior Salute that included the families of the late Drean Rucker and Danelo, the Danelo tributes at USC, and the USC Norris Hospital, USC Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Ryan Davidson visits.
