“It’s great, because USC is one of my favorite teams, and is really my favorite team since I was growing up,” said Robinson about his reaction to the offer from the Trojans. “So, I was really excited about the offer. That’s the team I watched the most when I was growing up.”
USC visited Lake Region High in May and spent time with head coach Steve Reynolds evaluating Robinson, and were impressed enough to verbally offer him a scholarship.
“There were two coaches that came down to the school and they were talking to my coach and watching film,” said Robinson “We shook hands, but they couldn’t talk to me because of NCAA rules. So, I found out what they talked about from my coach and they said they were going to take my film with them and analyze it more. They said I am a great player on film and they hoped I’d be able to visit the campus soon.”
Robinson has plans to visit USC this summer, but he’s unable to work one of USC’s June camps into his schedule. But there’s a chance he could compete at a USC camp next summer.
“I’m planning on going out there in July,” Robinson said. “My head coach, Steve Reynolds, two other players from our team might be coming and my dad will come out there with me.”
Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee and Virginia Tech are other schools Robinson said he’ll visit this summer. Michigan and Ohio State have been two schools high on Robinson’s list and he was asked what his interest was in the two schools.
“I like Michigan and Ohio State, mainly because they were the first two schools to offer me,” Robinson said. “And I know more about their academics and visited their campuses, and everything. That’s the only thing, really.”
Not many rising juniors have offers from the schools Robinson does and the 15-year-old Floridian is enjoying recruiting process, so far.
“It’s been a great experience,” said Robinson about the offers from Michigan, Ohio State, USC, Florida and Tennessee. “Most athletes my age don’t get to experience what I am until they are older, but it’s been a great experience and makes me want to work harder to get to the next level.
We’ll have more from Robinson after his July visit to USC.
