At 2:05 PM ( March 20th 2008) Upland Football Head Coach Tim Salter brought in the 6'4 205 pound quarterback into his office after his work out in the weight room. What caught the whole Upland football coaching staff off guard was that Inland Empire recruiter Al Simmions and Cal Head Football Coach Jeff TedFord was on Coach Salter's Cell phone waiting to tell Nunes that they were going to offer him.... Josh recently enjoyed his trip to Berkeley last May at he participated in the Elite 11 Regional Camp there and will be making a trip back up there in May of this year to compete again at the Elite 11. He will make an unofficial trip a month prior at Berkeley on April 12th 2008 to attend Cal's Jr Day.
Josh Nunes comments "The offer from Cal today was a total surprise. I was so excited to hear that they had offered me. They have a strong rich tradition of winning up there and having a great coaching staff from top to bottom every year. Coach Tedford has coached many great quarterbacks in the past and Cal seems to always be a national contender on a consistent basis each season. Since I plan on going into the engineering field, Cal is an obvious choice in that field, since they are among the top engineering programs in the nation. "It was a great honor to talk to Coach Tedford and receive an offer today. I have great respect for him as a coach on how he has developed players like Kyle Boller, Aaron Rodgers and Nate Longshore. IM still wide open on which college I would like to attend, but I know pretty soon IM going to have to start narrowing it down." When Upland goes on Spring Break in two weeks Nunes will take that time to pay unofficial visits to Oregon, Oregon State, Boise State, BYU and Utah!. In April he plans on visiting UCLA practices as well.
