I've been waiting for this to break. This has been in the works for awhile. AJ thought he should be playing more, and a combination of him not liking school. As much as I liked AJ, I think Donte would have beatin him out of his spot. Donte will really have to step up now as he is the only backup pg we have.

If Smith is very good,I think he starts. Hackett can play the point but he's not a true point guard. Lewis might be more effective coming off the bench but again, this only happens if Donte Smith is that good.

I agree with you. What is funny is that Coach is a pg coach but he hasn't really had a pg since Ryan. I think Donte is his firsttrue pg in the last 2 yrs and he will be starting eventually. We will have to see how he handles practices and workouts, but I've got to know Donte over the past couple months, and he is a very hard worker. I think he starts the second haf of non cofrence and all of Pac 10

I always liked his game. I wish him the best wherever he ends up.

It's sad to see him go. I have to say I did not think too highly of his abilities at the beginning of last season, but later on I really began to appreciate what he did for us, especially those timely 3-pointers that he always make at least once every game or so.
I wish the best of luck, but I think even if he stayed he would still have found decent playing time if he worked hard. |
