It's not bad when your 9th leading scorer is your ''biggest loss''
    12. USC Trojans
    Previous Way-Too-Early ranking: 13
    Key losses: Charles Buggs
Key additions: Derryck Thornton, Charles O'Bannon, Jr.

Coach Andy Enfield did not get top recruit Marvin Bagley. But he's still coaching a Pac-12 contender with the pieces to advance beyond the first weekend. Right now, USC is the most stable program on the West Coast. Arizona, Gonzaga, Cal, Oregon and UCLA all lost significant contributors from last season's squads. But the Trojans return every key piece of a team that reached the second round of the NCAA tournament. Bennie Boatwright entered the NBA draft without hiring an agent, but he withdrew late last month. With Chimezie Metu, Elijah Stewart and Jordan McLaughlin also returning, USC will enter 2017-18 as a Pac-12 title contender and more. Shaqquan Aaron's return ensures the Trojans will bring back their top eight scorers from last season. Plus, Charles O'Bannon Jr., a five-star forward, and Duke transfer Derryck Thornton round out one of the nation's most impressive, deepest rotations. But the Trojans barely cracked the top-100 in adjusted defensive efficiency last season. That must change if USC intends to consistently compete with the best teams in the country.

Sweeeeeet! Now hoping Marvin Bagley does not get approved for 2017 reclassification so we don't need to face him in the NCAA Championship Game, lol. He can play at Duke in 2018 or just go straight to the NBA after sitting a year out

The table is set for USC to make a run and become regular-season PAC-12 Champions.
The only team predicted to finish in the top 3rd that didn't lose an impact player(s).
Arizona/Oregon/UCLA all lost huge pieces, the time for USC to strike is NOW.

If you boys are not able to pull it together, I don't think it will ever happen.

This should be the biggest basketball year in a long time.
USC has the most experienced team and got some good recruits.
Like someone mentioned before, the defense may dictate how the season will go.
With so much depth, maybe speeding up the pace would be a good idea.

12 is about right but it will be very hard to compete with Arizona in the Pac 12 this year. I think Boatwright and McLaughlin have reached their ceilings as very good college players, but the development of Melton and Metu will be the difference makers this year. If they reach their potential (which for both is a top 15 NBA draft pick), this is a final 4 caliber roster.

If you hadn't noticed, we are putting together an all-time recruiting class that teeters on #1 in the country with the potential commitment of Bol Bol and one of a few elite point guards. It will be top 15 class even if we miss on the rest of our targets. With O'Bannon and Usher on campus to add to that, we are only starting the golden era of USC basketball.
